The Durham Ox is so named because in 1764 a huge beast, an Ox weighing 27cwt, was on show in the village. The owners of the inn being built at the time were so impressed by the animal that they named the inn after it - The Durham Ox.

It supplied beer to the navvies building both the nearby canal and the railway and has served the needs of thirsty Warwickshire locals since that time.

This inn has its own in-house ale, “Durham Ox”, brewed on site’
